When purchased by the current owner, this single storey weatherboard Victorian house was in a sorry state of disrepair. All period detailed had been stripped away decades ago, the high Victorian ceilings lowered and the front verandah removed. A large apartment block next door raised issues of privacy.
The project brief was to address the impact of the nearby apartment block, restore the Victorian period character and details to the existing dwelling, and construct a contemporary and open plan family home with private outdoor living spaces and a luxurious upper storey parent retreat.
